Evaluation and Treatment of Resonance Disorders
نویسنده
چکیده
Resonance disorders can be caused by a variety of structural abnormalities in the resonating chambers for speech, or by velopharyngeal dysfunction. These abnormalities may result in hypernasality, hypoor denasality, or cul-de-sac resonance. Resonance disorders are commonly seen in patients with craniofacial anomalies, particularly a history of cleft palate. The appropriate evaluation of a resonance disorder includes a speech pathology evaluation, and may require a videofluoroscopic speech study or nasopharyngoscopy assessment. Treatment may include surgery or the use of prosthetic devices, and usually speech therapy. Given the complexity of these disorders in regard to evaluation and treatment, the patient is best served by an interdisciplinary craniofacial anomaly team.

Neuroimaging in Iran: A Review
ABSTRACTNeuroimaging allows noninvasive evaluation of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the brain. It is widely used for diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment evaluation of neurological disorders as well as understanding functions of the brain in health and disease. Neuroimaging modalities include X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emis...
متن کاملP28: Neuroimaging in Anxiety Disorders
In recent years, the development of neuroimaging techniques such as high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), or single photon emission tomography (SPECT) has promoted the identification of structural and functional characteristics underlying mental disorders to a great extent. In anxiety disorders, recent...
متن کاملClinical Significance of Diffusion Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging on Treatment Efficacy in MS Patients With Acute Attacks
Background: Despite the existence of various imaging methods, the accurate diagnosis of many neurodegenerative diseases is still controversial. The use of advanced imaging techniques, such as the diffusion weighted imaging can be help the early detection of MS and evaluation of the treatment efficacy in these patients. Materials and method: 24 MS patients with acute attack and thirty healthy s...
متن کاملEffect of Bias in Contrast Agent Concentration Measurement on Estimated Pharmacokinetic Parameters in Brain Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging Studies
Introduction: Pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is widely applied in tumor diagnosis and treatment evaluation. Precision analysis of the estimated PK parameters is essential when they are used as a measure for therapy evaluation or treatment planning. In this study, the accuracy of PK parameters in brain DCE...

The sense of smell, one of the five basic senses that humans have, helps us detect different types of odors. It also plays an important role in the detection of pollutants, toxic gases, or rotten and hazardous foods. Although olfaction is considered less important than the other senses, smell disorders could cause a variety of problems, including reduced taste detection due to the relationship ...
